Introduction to the Paintings of Chosŏn Korea in One Day

Soojin Kim is currently a visiting professor at the Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul. She received her PhD from the Department of Archeology and Art History at Seoul National University in 2017. Her dissertation, “The Golden Age of Folding Screens: A Study of Screen Painting in Late Chosŏn Korea” focuses on the history of Chosŏn’s folding screens and their role as effective media conveying “Neo-Confucianism” and “Rule of Ritual”, two ruling ideologies of the dynasty. Before joining the Sungkyunkwan University, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Academy of Korean Studies, a visiting fellow and an associate researcher at the Harvard-Yenching Institute and a Korea Foundation intern at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Currently she is revising her dissertation into a book under the working title "Cultural History of Folding Screens in Korea."
