Introduction to the Paintings of Chosŏn Korea in One Day

弘益大學美術史系
Yoo is an assistant professor in Hongik University. dep. of Art history, Korea. She was a visiting fellow in Harvard-Yencing Institute in 2012-2014. She received Ph.D. in art history from Seoul National University in 2016 (doctoral thesis: “The Court paintings in the Era of King Jeongjo”). She expanded her research on the Korean court paintings to different periods, before and after Jeonjo, focusing on the political agency of the kings and royal family. Recently, she is working on two projects; one is a comparative approach to two leaders, Qianlong in China and Jeongjo in Korea, who both actively fashioned himself as a true patron of art and learning in 18th century and the other one is a research on the portraits of the first king in Joseon which exerted lasting influence and efficacy throughout 500 years of Joseon dynasty.
